Welcome to LOOKING FOR A WOR(L)D
I have always been passionate about culture in all its forms, so much that I decided to cultivate this passion and deepen it through my studies.
Over the years I have had the opportunity to travel and live in other countries, to research 'other' realities, to meet people and get to know their worlds, different, distant but nevertheless with many things in common with my own one.
Curiosity in discovering and trying to understand the culture behind the way we live and behave has pushed me to deepen the relationship between 'us' and 'others' in different ways, trying to never stop at appearances and at what remains on the surface. Within the blog you will find reflections on this relationship, on humanity and on its different ways of 'making' culture.
Every page written, every photo taken and every video filmed has been created personally, always and only with the primary purpose not to harm in any way the worlds and people portrayed in them, but to investigate them with the deepest respect for what they are and represent.
Who I am
Nice to meet you, I am Alessandro Bordin. I was born in Sanremo, Italy but have always been driven by a desire to explore and see new places. Since my university days, I have been lucky enough to live in other Italian cities, first, and then in the world.
I graduated in Modern Literature in Genoa and in Cultural Anthropology and Ethnology in Turin. For my Master's thesis, I lived a few months in New Delhi where I conducted my field research and taught Italian language and literature at the university and other institutes in the Indian capital. This experience, besides making me fall in love with this country, gave me further confirmation of how much I love living in the field in that particular dimension where, overwhelmed by questions, one is constantly searching for answers.

After graduation, I moved to London: here, between work shifts and efforts to improve my English, I shot my first ethnographic documentary called 'A man and his luggage'. In March 2022, the documentary was screened at the International Ethnographic Film Festival in Québéc, Canada.
In recent years, I have specialised with a master's degree and other certifications in teaching Italian to foreigners, resuming the path I began with my master's thesis. To date, I carry out this profession by teaching online while travelling the world without ever ceasing to ask myself questions.

The intention behind this page is to share my reflections while pursuing this great passion of mine, in the hope that one day it may become part of my daily work.
